Music is a vital part of our ministry at First United Methodist Church. We believe that God is glorified through the use of our talents and that music rightly has an important place in the worship experience and social life of the church.

One of the goals of First United Methodist Church is to encourage and nurture the worshipping arts. As worship is the central act of the church, FUMC actively pursues ways to involve the various arts, and seeks to encourage individuals to explore their God-given talents. There is a great variety of music offered for those who love to sing, those who love to make music, and those who love to listen!

There are choirs for every age, small ensembles and solo opportunities, festival choirs for special performances, and dinner productions and dramas held for a variety of functions throughout the year. Our candlelight Christmas Eve worship service is a breathtaking experience. There are outstanding works by the old masters, as well as contemporary Christian artists, so there is something for everybody at First Church.

The Chancel Choir is the adult choir that sings for worship services each Sunday. They are often joined by youth or children’s choirs or other special music. Their music is a powerful message of God’s word. Music is God’s gift, and has an important place in the worship experience and the life of the church.

We believe that God is glorified through the use of our talents, and we seek to offer our “very best” so that God can use our offering in his own way in our congregation and in the world at large.

ENTERLIFE - CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE

Numerous musical opportunities are available in our Enterlife Contemporary Worship Service with PowerHouse. PowerHouse is definitely not your grandparents' praise band. PowerHouse consists of energetic singers and versatile horn and string players perfectly blended atop of one of the strongest rhythm section in St. Louis. Coordinating a group of this size is not easy. Singers rehearse on Friday nights, while the band rehearses Sunday mornings before the service. Material chosen for services are selected from the newest and freshest songs of: Word, Integrity, Hillsong, Vineyard and the Methodist Hymnal. If you are interested in taking part, please speak with anyone in our group.
