Mother's Day Out

The purpose of the Mother's Day Out program at First United Methodist Church is to serve families in our community by providing quality childcare in a Christian atmosphere.

In our gentle, caring environment loving teachers provide for the healthy development of your child from six weeks to four years of age. This is accomplished by providing a safe environment, a trusted and caring staff, and an opportunity for socialization and meaningful activities.

Our teachers are here to meet the individual needs of your child—whether softly rocking your infant, helping your toddler to be kind to his neighbor, or listening to your preschooler tell her favorite story over and over.

The program uses permanent weekly slots and a monthly fee is charged. Childcare facilities are divided into four sections:

• Crib Nursery - ages six weeks to 12 months
• Toddler Room - ages 12 months to 24 months
• Pre-Primary Room - ages 26 months to 36 months
• Primary Room - ages 3 and 4 years

State Regulations: First United Methodist Church MDO is inspected by the Missouri Department of Health. The state capacity guideline is 41 children, ages 6 weeks to 4 years. Staff/Child Ratios are as follows:

• Six weeks to 12 months: 1/3
• 12 - 24 months: 1/4
• 2 - 3 years of age: 1/6
• 3 - 4 years of age: 1/7

Director: The director of MDO is Kerri Johnson and she is responsible for the on-site administration of this Center. Parents are encouraged to use the "open door" policy of the director. Please contact her at (636)-947-9380 for more information on our MDO program.

Classroom Teachers: The teachers are responsible for implementing curriculum, as well as observing and evaluating children's progress. Our excellent teachers have a wide range of experience and education, and all are required to continue their professional growth in the field of early childhood education through ongoing training. All teachers are CPR trained and have undergone background checks, physicals, and TB tests.

This program is governed by the Mother's Day Out (MDO) Board, which is made up of church members, parents, the Director of Children's Ministries, and the Director of Mother's Day Out.
