Senior Adult Ministry


SAM

Senior Adult Ministry or "SAM" is for all senior adults, 55 and over, in our church and community. The mission of SAM is to show love to our Father and His Son, Jesus, through interaction with one another in love and kindness; to share our faith, experiences, resources, as well as laughter and joy with all we meet in our church, community, and neighborhood.

 

 

 


SAM Calendar of Events
 

 

February 13, 2012:

      This month we will be watching a movie. We will attempt to have the movie "Contagious", a Christian based movie that has very good ratings.

The menu will be: Meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, salad, and dessert.

The fee is $8.00 and resevations are due by noon February 7, 2012.


 

March 12, 2012:

      Rev. Kalaba Chali, associate pastor at FUMC, will share with us about the United Methodist Church in Africa and his ministry experiences both from Africa and the United States. Come and hear Rev. Chali's story.

The menu will be: Beef tips with noodles, mushroom gravy, mixed vegatables, salad, and dessert.

The fee is $8.00 and reservations are due by noon March 6, 2012.

 


April 16, 2012:

      Kyle Gaines from the St. Charles County Ambulance Service will be here to talk about the concerns of seniors and the services they offer.

The menu will be: Pork chops with stuffing, green beans, salad, and dessert.

The fee is $8.00 and reservations are due by noon April 10, 2012. 



SAM Travel 2012

      The Senior Adult Ministry of FUMC is organizing a one-day trip to Springfield, Illinois on Monday, May 14, 2012. This trip will accommodate 55 individuals and will take the place of the May 2012 SAM luncheon. The cost of this one-day trip is $35.00 per person and includes motorcoach transportation, admission fees and gratuities. While in Springfield we will visit the Lincoln Presidential Museum, home and tomb. Lunch costs are the responsibility of the individual. Fliers will be available and applications processed at the SAM luncheon on February 13, 2012. SAM travel and sign-up ploicies will be in effect.     

 

      SAM is organizing a trip to Albuquerque and Santa Fe for September 17-23, 2012. The trip is for seven days and six nights with an approximate cost of $575 per person based on double occupancy. This price includes: motorcoach transportation, 6 nights lodging, 10 meals, gratuities, guided tours of Santa Fe and Acoma Pueblo (Sky City), a visit to New Mexico Veterans Memorial & Old Town Albuquerque, ride the Sandia Peak Tramway and more. Fliers will be available and applications processed at the SAM luncheon on Nov. 14, 2011. SAM travel sign-up policies will be in effect.
