Health

Health Forms

All parents must complete the Missouri State health form, which is available from the director. Please request the child's doctor to fill out the doctor's portion of the form upon examination of your child. Return the form before your child starts their first day of preschool.

Immunizations

Children cannot attend preschool without proper immunizations. If your child is behind in immunizations, we need a doctor's note stating that your child is in the process of getting their immunizations updated.

Medical Conditions

If your child has a special medical condition (e.g. food allergies, asthma, seizures, etc.), please have your doctor include this condition on your child's health form. Parents will be required to provide a snack each day for children with food allergies as well as a medical plan from their doctor if a reaction occurs.

Sick Children

Upon arrival in your child's classroom, if the teacher suspects your child may be ill, you may be asked to remain while a health check is made. Children who show evidence of illness will not be admitted to preschool that day.

We recognize that it is sometimes difficult to stay home with a sick child, but by abiding by state regulations regarding illness, we can help keep illness from spreading. We will always contact families as soon as a child shows signs of illness to inform you of the child's condition.

We only make requests for immediate pick-up for symptoms that warrant it or when we are unable to keep the child comfortable.

To protect the safety and well being of the children in our preschool, please do not send children to school if they have any of the following symptoms. Also, if your child exhibits any of the following symptoms while at school, they must be sent home.

1) Diarrhea - more than one abnormal loose stool

2) Sever coughing - if child gets red or blue in the face or makes high pitch croupy or whooping sounds after coughing

3) Difficult or rapid breathing

4) Yellowing skin or eyes

5) Pinkeye-tears, redness of eyelid lining, irritation, followed by swelling or discharge of pus

6) Unusual spots or rashes

7) Sore throat or trouble swallowing

8) An infected skin patch; crusty patches; or bright yellow, dry, or gummy areas of the skin

9) Unusually dark, tea-colored urine

10) Fever over 100 degrees F (99 degrees if taken under the arm.)

11) Headache and stiff neck

12) Vomiting

Communicable Diseases

If your child is exposed to or contracts a communicable disease, it is essential that this information be reported to the director. Information of possible exposure to the communicable disease will be posted for the classrooms involved.

Safety

The preschool staff makes every attempt to ensure the safety of all children. However, should a serious accident occur, a parent is immediately contacted, and the procedure for treatment will be provided as you have stated on the enrollment form. Minor injuries are reported to the parent through the use of an accident/injury report form and/or by contacting parents by phone. Injuries that break the skin are washed and bandages are applied, if needed. Bruises and bumps are treated with ice applications.
